Four works by the late Alec Hill (1941–2013), three for the PTO and one other instrumental piece. The works are Small Change Machine and Large Change Machine for four toy pianos (the latter can be heard on the EMC’s CD PTO:The Orangery), Carol for four reed organs and Annable’s London Surprise for six or seven sustaining instruments.

Includes full scores of Aran and McCrimmon Will Never Return, an interesting account by the composer of the performance practice of the Promenade Theatre Orchestra, as well as suggestions for substitutions of the original instrumentation (such as reed organs, toy pianos, and camel bells).

Shrapnel’s music for the Promenade Theatre Orchestra and other ensembles.  Includes music for multiple keyboards (electronic, pianos) as well as the original instrumentation of toy pianos and reed organs. This is a study score of the composer’s manuscript and contains a manuscript facsimile of his 4 Toy Pianos, currently published as Oakley St., in a performing edition, by Forward Music (72 Verdant Lane, London).
