Biography

Gavin Bryars (born Yorkshire, 1943) was one of the central figures in the history of the Experimental Music Catalogue, steering its committee from the early 1970s (with Christopher Hobbs and Michael Nyman) until its “sleep” in 1981. All Gavin Bryars’ music is now published by Schott Music, 48 Great Marlborough Street, London W1F 7BB. Bryars and Schott have graciously agreed to allow the EMC to reprint facsimile editions of his original EMC work, including those in the Verbal Anthology, with more to come.
